St. Columba's Christmas 2010

This year, the First Sunday in Advent was the 28th of November. The Christmas tree was decorated by our long serving and much respected caretater, Mr Narcisso Periera.
The Choir sang.
and the first Advent candle was lit.
Apart from the tree, the window sills in the Church were also decorated.
A special service was held on Sunday 12th December when the was a baptism and also a confirmation.
During the service, two of our friends, John Hodge (on the left) and John McPherson (on the right) were admitted as full communicant members of the Church of Scotland.

The annual Christmas lunch was once again held at the Somerville Hotel in St. Aubin where we enjoyed a very good meal with lots of festive cheer and fellowship.

This year the pre-Christmas Family Service was held at 4-30pm on Christmas Eve. This was because of the snow that had fallen on the previous week-end when it had been decided to cancel the Sunday Service. It was nice to note that the pews were still quite full.
Some of the older children read some of the Christmas stories
A mass ensemble sang Christmas Carols
A final line up of the children from the Nativity Play.

After the Christmas Day Service, the entire congergation, led by the Minister, went down to Ouaisne Bay for the traditional Christmas dip.

A very Happy New Year to you all. The next time you come to Jersey, you will be made very welcome at St. Columba's Church in Midvale Road.
